Does this course certify me to surf the bore?

No. This is an awareness course. It does not certify competency and does not replace professional instruction or a local guide.

Is it free?

Yes. The Safe Surfer Test, the films, and all educational resources are free to use.

Where does my data go?

Nowhere. Module progress, quiz answers, and your certificate are stored in your browser's local storage. We do not run a server-side account system.

Can I walk on the mudflats at low tide?

No. The mud can trap you regardless of how the surface looks. The tide returns at 5–6 mph. People have drowned standing upright.

What's the minimum wetsuit?

5/4 or 6/5 with hood, gloves, and booties. Cold-water exposure is the dominant hazard.

Can I surf the bore as a beginner?

Not safely on your own. Build cold-water and standing-wave experience first, then surf early sessions with experienced locals or a qualified guide.

Where do I view the bore safely?

From the Seward Highway pullouts and overlooks — Beluga Point, Bird Point, and similar viewpoints provide great views with zero entrapment risk.
